Fred Astire and Ginger Rodgers- Roberta

We recently re-watched "Roberta" starring Irene Dunn, Randolph Scott, Fred Astaire and Ginger Rodgers. I had forgotten how much I love this film! The third Fred and Ginger movie, it is a story revolving around a Paris dress shop Roberta's. Of course there is lots of wonderful dresses and dances!

If you watch the movie, keep your eye out for a young Lucille Ball as a model and don't skip the opening credits! Very classic 30s deco!

  1. I don't remember ever seeing this movie! I'll have to look it up. It's fun to spot Lucille Ball in her early movies before she was I Love Lucy. She was really a beauty.

  2. Oh, I do enjoy this movie too! Have you ever seen the remake "Lovely to Look At" with Howard Keel and Kathryn Grayson. As a teenager Howard Keel was my favorite actor. I even sent away for his autograph. No one can sing "Lovely to Look At" quite like Howard Keel. : )

    1. I think I have "Lovely to Look At". Though it has been awhile and I didn't realize it was a remake. Might have to go find it again.

      Thanks Sarah!

  3. Oh, it has been a while since I've seen this movie. I love all the Fred & Ginger movies. The styles, the silly love plots, the fabulous music and dancing, what's not to love?
I want to tell you that I just found your blog, and I think we are kindred spirits! I posted the other day about a 1926 cookbook, and was web-surfing looking to borrow a 1920's apron image, and I found your blog! I didn't borrow any images, but immediately read all your decade pages, and I'm working my way through your blog archives. I love your cooking and sewing projects, and I envy you the camaraderie of thrift-shopping, antiquing, estate-sale-haunting with your sisters. Anyway, I didn't mean to go on and on, just wanted to let you know you have a new fan. Have a happy weekend!
