The Mysteries of Plumbing-House Update

The last few weeks we have been working on the plumbing. We haven't started putting it back, just the tear out as it was in the way of the floor joist that needed to be fixed. Also, we have been trying to come up with a good bathroom arrangement. I am planning on going very vintage/classic with black and white tile and a sink that is very similar to the one above.
The bathroom is very *cozy*.I have seen walk in closets this big!!  It seems there is really no good way to put everything in without having to trip over something. I keep telling myself "If they could live with it in the 20s, I can live with it too!" I just wish there was one choice that stood out to make the choice easier..... We could of course enlarge it, but that would mean the already small bedroom on the left would be made smaller. And a lot of mess ripping out studs and plaster.
This is going to be one of those decisions I will either regret in a few months time or wonder why I was so worked up about it......
A random cool picture of the laundry hooks ups. I love the little spigots!
We always marvel at old plumbing. Ninety years of fixing and adjusting, it looks like a spider web! I think they had extra elbows that needed to be used.....

  1. So are you going to put the bathtub across the end, the stool on the left (with the door hinged on the left and opening against it so it's hidden when the door is open) and the sink on the right? OR are you going to put the tub on the left with the stool on the right side down near the window and the sink this side of it? (with the door hinged on the right, so you can see the pretty clawfoot tub with the lovely towel hanging over the edge)

Sorry, but I always see so many possibilities in spaces. We've redone houses many times and also have drawn on paper many houses that only exist in the minds of Kevin and me - and on draft paper. lol

    Have fun. LOVE construction!

    1. Lol! I guess I really don't mind construction either. Just the desision making process gets to me, I hate making desicions!

  2. Small bathrooms can be a challenge. I know. I have decided to live with small...I'd rather have the space for other rooms. Good luck!

    1. Yes, I would rather have a large living space then bathroom too. This one is just a wee bit smaller then I envisioned. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, everything in the house is the small!

  3. Well, you know me, I love my large bath! But, my last home had a bath just about the size of yours. It was cozy and charming and no problem getting around in. I loved it, too. I think it depends on the house and where you want the most room. I'm a big help, aren't I?
This is just the beginning for decisions! Have fun with it and don't let it get to you! Enjoy the journey!
    Blessings from the Farmhouse,

    1. Thanks for the encouragement! I am trying not to let the desisions get the best of me. And I really don't mind a cozy bathroom, this one is just on the extra cozy side!

  4. We re-did the bathroom in stages, you might say. Very, very happy with all our Kohler fixtures. Can't wait to see your "after" photos!
